There's a stereotype about children of the elite, especially those of old money. After all, generational wealth typically comes with generational trauma. The burden of being an heir to a prestigious company, the need to achieve numerous things for recognition by their parents, etc. Luckily, Junseo didn't have a sob story. Growing up, he was well-loved. His parents struggled with having a child of their own and considered him nothing short of a blessing in their lives. They were good to him in every way they could have been.He was adopted from an agency in China at the age of 3 by Seohee and Junko GetΕ. With a Korean mother and a Japanese father, he was raised in a mixed culture environment. It helped him grow into a man with appreciation for those who don't quite fit in an already existing box. Junseo was taught to ignore the judgmental whispers and looks from those outside of his family. Rich people liked to talk shit about each other and compare, compare, compare. Boo. Tomatoes, tomatoes. Who cares? Is it that deep? To the boy with a bright personality and a mouth that lacked a filter, it definitely wasn't. (Sometimes that got him in trouble.)At 6 years old, Junseo discovered his love for swimming. But when you grow up on Jeju Island with a million other kids that excelled at the sport, you learn pretty quickly that it's not all that special. However, while his peers eventually lost interest, Junseo never outgrew his passion for it. So, despite his parents' uncertainty, he started his career as a professional lifeguard. Of course, his mom preferred him competing as an Olympic swimmer and his dad always mentioned the idea of him being a part of the NAVY SEALs. But both seemed like complicated lifestyles and all he wanted was to be happy. At the age of 19, Junseo held the trembling body of his childhood best friend as she sobbed about a life-altering discovery: she was pregnant. She couldn't afford to be. Her life was just beginning. Her family would disown her. That's how Junseo became an adoptive father to two beautiful twin girls. Nanako and Mimiko, named by their biological mother, grew up in the gated paradise of GetΕ Estate. His best friend never told him who their biological father was and Junseo never asked. It didn't matter to him anyway, the way it didn't matter who his own blood was. He never cared enough to search and find out. Now, Junseo's life revolved around 1.) two mischievous toddlers and 2.) saving lives endangered by the push and pull of the ocean. What more could he ask for?(Well, maybe a way to cope with his well-hidden depression disorder, gray morals, loneliness that feels like it could kill, and frequent nightmares of drowning.)
